Initially built as a wedding barn for our oldest son, we personally put in our own time and effort to create this wonderful estate. Complete with The Barn, The Chapel, The Bridal Cabin, The Groom Suite, The Pavilion,The Big Oak, and a large parking area, we built it all by hand. We realize how difficult it is to find a venue for those on tight budgets, so we have dedicated our lives to sharing our lovely home with all of you.
This barn was built with lumber sawed from a local mill. Each board was uniquely cut to ensure its beauty. The barn is 1160 sq. ft. with an additional 192 sq. ft. loft, accessible via a custom built staircase. It has 5 sets of large barn doors and 5 rustic windows, which all open to the beautiful outdoors. The inside is lit with chandeliers and wall sconces. The perimeter of the barn is lit with rustic outdoor barn lights which elegantly enhance the natural beauty of the barn. Simple yet eloquent lights are strung from the peak of the barn to light up the field out front. This beautiful barn can be used as the backdrop of an outdoor wedding, or if you choose, you can hold your ceremony underneath the large chandelier inside. This space is also perfect for a reception, birthday party, anniversary, or corporate event. The possibilities are endless.
This beautiful tree towers over the property. You can see the canopy high above the tree line, regardless of where you are standing. Many feel the tree could be upwards of 200 years old. The circumference of the tree, at the base, is 21 ft. One thing that everyone agrees upon is the unique beauty of the tree with its massive branches outstretched across the property. It wouldn’t be complete without an old rope swing hanging from one of its large branches. This tree provides a wonderful location for an outdoor wedding or photo opportunity for weddings, graduation or engagements.
This unique structure had some very humble, but memorable beginnings. Without the purchase of a Goodwill storage building, we would have never moved in the direction of building a family cabin. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered to ensure that a rustic yet functional design was accomplished. A barn estimated to be over 100 yrs. old was bought in Alabama after it had been dismantled. It was our goal to salvage and repurpose as much of the old structure as possible. The ceiling is old rusty tin that once kept the farmer and his animals dry. The floor is rough sawn lumber that once was in the loft of the barn that held many bales of hay. The gray wood from the outside of the barn is now used on an accent wall, window trim, sliding doors, mirror frames, cabinets, and light fixtures.
Three vintage light fixtures, as well as the cast iron kitchen sink, were all salvaged from our work place which was being remodeled and had been used by our family for 20+ years. Many childhood, as well as, family antiques is used for décor. As a child, we often spent time at my Great Aunts who lived in a rustic farm house which had a pump at the well; and we all drank water from the same dipper! This was recreated in the kitchen with a vintage pump that has been retrofitted. It would not be home without an old aluminum water dipper hanging by the sink. This provides the perfect location for the bridal party to prepare for the wedding.
This is one of the most unique structures on the property. It was modeled after a rural, small town store that carried a general line of merchandise. The rustic, welcoming porch, takes you back to a time when life was simple and many hours would have been spent sitting around talking, and often times whittling. The interior was salvaged from an old general store in Alabama that existed long before the major box stores dotted the country sides.
The old wooden floor still creaks when you walk across it, leaving you with a nostalgic feeling. There are many family antiques on display. Every little detail has been considered, including the vintage wrought iron chandelier. It has many unique details and a few hidden surprises. Take a moment, go back in time and make believe you are shopping at the Blevins General Store.
The Pavilion was designed with numerous architectural features to enhance its natural beauty. It has a 24’ x 24’ covered outdoor space that has a panoramic view of the venue. There is also a large deck, that has hundreds of patio lights. The pavilion also has a catering kitchen and groom suite.
The open chapel offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for your wedding ceremony, with panoramic views of the entire property. It has 22 hand built pews, and seats 175 people. Whether you envision a casual yet elegant service under our big oak tree, or desire a more traditional and formal ceremony in the chapel, we can accommodate your needs. The chapel is beautiful and always ready to be the setting of your most lasting and treasured memories.
The Chapel, like all the other structures on the property, had a unique begining. We first bought the steeple along with two vintage stained glass windows. The chapel wouldn't be complete without the vintage light hanging on the porch. A very sweet little lady sat under this light, on her neighbor's porch, for 50 years. As she wished, memories are still being made each time a beautiful bride stands under this light on her wedding day.
